＜生物発光＞沖縄トビイカの発光機構・不安定なジオキセタノンの化学合成による発光機構研究、新生物発光系の探索、＜昆虫休眠＞カイコ休眠誘導ホルモンの構造・休眠覚醒に関与するペプチドの構造、現在は覚醒の分子機構解明を目指している、＜タンパク脱燐酸酵素阻害剤の研究＞オカダ酸・トートマイシンの全合成を終えたので、化学合成による機構解明・生物発光系による阻害活性の測定、中型分子の形状決定、タンパクとの相互作用＜天然物合成＞立体化学の複雑な天然物の合成とその方法論の開発、シガトキシン・テトロドトキシンなど海洋超活性物質の合成を目指している。
