Striving to Become a World-Leading Hub of Knowledge Creation<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) at Nagoya University was established in 2002 as a pioneering initiative among Japanese universities, with the aim of promoting world-class research within the university and broadly sharing its outcomes with society. The founding director was Professor Ryoji Noyori, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry. Since its inception, the IAR has played a central role in advancing scholarship at Nagoya University by supporting outstanding research, fostering the next generation of researchers, and promoting international academic exchange.<\/p>\n

The IAR places a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research that transcends conventional academic boundaries\u2014especially bold, pioneering studies that open up new fields of inquiry. Through initiatives such as the \u201cNagoya University Lecture,\u201d personally conferred by the university president, and a wide array of workshops and symposia, we are actively engaged in disseminating knowledge. We also collaborate with research institutions around the world bearing the name \u201cInstitute for\/of Advanced Study\/Studies\u201d and contribute to the leadership of UBIAS (University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study), an international network of advanced research institutes.<\/p>\n

At the core of our mission in human resource development is the \u201cYoung Leaders Cultivation (YLC)\u201d program, designed to support early-career researchers. In addition, we are committed to promoting interdisciplinary and international research through collaboration with the New Field Research Units, the Tokai Pathways to Global Excellence (T-GEx) program, and the Fusion Oriented Research for Disruptive Science and Technology program, which nurtures future research pioneers addressing global challenges.\u3000These efforts form an essential foundation for Nagoya University to continue its progress as one of the world\u2019s leading research universities.<\/p>\n

Moving forward, the Institute for Advanced Research will further strengthen its role as a hub for research and talent and continue to evolve as a dynamic center for advanced, globally connected knowledge creation.<\/p>\n
